The effects are quality recordings, with very a low noise floor, and often have a variety in the takes, so you can find the distance, speed, and duration of the effect to match your project […] But the real draw is the variety found within the catalogs […] There is literally no way freelancers will go without the sound effects they need when they purchase the Hybrid Library.
This library presents an amazing value to the independent/freelance sound designer. I know I sound like a shill, but I honestly believe that its an incredible deal not worth passing up. It’s damned near impossible to find anything out there that even approaches this.
I had a big Library before, but this one added a lot: Nearly everything I’m looking for, including a lot of 5.1 sounds.
I got this as a starter library for my assistant, but I ended up using it myself first on the film I’m working on right now. It’s a great general library to start with, it covers a lot of different areas and has a lot of variations.
I have recently bought a copy of their library. WOW. These are really great sounds. Very good recordings and easy to find stuff. Highly recommended over some of the poorly recorded “standard” libraries IMHO.
3 European commercials in need of wolf and dog sounds: Hybrid Library check! Final shootout in feature film in need of rapid bullet impacts: Hybrid Library check! (those impact sounds are insane!!) Short modern dance ident for a car brand in need of airy whooshes and sub impacts (dancers dancing to a glitchy hip-hop track): Hybrid Library check!! Yessir, darn happy with the library. Sonic quality is great and inspiring and helping us to sound better!
I’m still running through all the sounds but holy &%!# there is some great stuff in there.
I’ve already cut some tasty surround ambiences from the Hybrid Library into a feature film I worked on; I’m loving it.
I have been a professional sound editor for 10 years and have worked at major studios with massive libraries. I recently went out on my own and opened my own studio with the Hybrid Library as the core. There are tons of great sounds in here. A lot of designed elements that speed up workflow by not having to design a stinger or a bed if you don’t have the time. The musical recordings are a great resource especially if you cut a lot of animation. Overall AMAZING variety of sounds for the money and a great starting place to build a solid library.
I myself have used their samples in a variety of applications, from sweetening room ambiance in documentaries, to evoking the sound of footsteps on freshly cracked snow in art-house flicks, to employing frightening gun shots in gangster movies, to everything in between. It’s been a tremendous help to my work, improving the speed of my turnaround.
For years I have been doing sound design for feature films, TV and web videos with a small sound effects library. I recently purchased the Hybrid Library and I’m astonished at how much faster I can complete projects that sound better than ever. This is exactly what I needed as an independent, one man operation. The price will quickly make up for itself in increased productivity. I can’t believe how many high quality sounds there are here in such a broad range of categories. This is the library to invest in if you are a freelance/independent sound designer like me.
The Hybrid Library is priced for the independent artist. […] The value it presents the independent user is well beyond its price tag.
Ready for the “Robin Hood” of professional sound effects libraries?
The variety on this hard drive is fantastic…so far it was unquestionably worth the investment as a new and independent creator.
It’s been a long time since I’ve purchased a library. I have a number of Hollywood Edge and Sound Ideas libraries, and the sounds are getting tired. Kinda how I felt about the BBC library when I bought the Premiere Edition 15 years ago. I need new sounds!
