While most ocean-based libraries focus on the sounds of waves and beaches, this unique library highlights the subtleties of everyday life by the sea.

Recorded in and around Monterey, California (including Route 1, Point Reyes, Vallejo, Carmel, Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, and San Francisco), this library captures the full breadth of the region’s natural and human ecosystem. From the chatter of gulls and sea lions to the bustle of Fisherman’s Wharf, the crunch of walking on seashells, and even room tones from a house by the sea, this is a snapshot of coastal life you won’t get anywhere else. And yes - you’ll still get the mighty roar of the Pacific, waves breaking on the beach and crashing into boulders, and dramatic winds only the untamed sea can stir up.

This library contains 500+ stereo and surround audio files (120 GB) created by sound artist Martin Pinsonnault (CODA, Dallas Buyers Club) and the Sonomar team. 148 of these files are cinema-ready 5.0 ambiences created from dual mid-side field recordings, plus stereo versions for additional flexibility. 74 more stereo-only recordings complete the set, giving you an authentic toolkit of sounds to create the perfect seaside atmosphere.
